1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray LT1 - Factory original - Incredible documentation!
$ 91,990
1972 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray LT-1 in Elkhart Green over a Black interior. One of just 1,741 Corvettes built in ’72 and one of the most well documented and well kept ALL ORIGINAL, UN-RESTORED SURVIVOR cars we’ve ever had the pleasure of rolling into our showroom. What you’re looking at is a very special LT-1 Corvette, highly optioned, and still wearing its factory original paint job and sporting its factory original interior. The car comes with every document an owner could ever dream of. Throughout its history, every owner has done this thing right, by documenting every oil change and every service right from the start! The car was bought new at Patterson Chevrolet in La Mirada California to a Louis E. Beidler for a total of $5730.00 on April 28, 1972. An incredible list of original documents includes the window sticker, owners manual, wheel trim ring instruction sheet, Consumer information book, Protect-o-plate, emissions control book, dealer extended warranty book, original plastic envelope, receipt from dealer, sales contract from dealer and new vehicle inspection sheet are all included. The car appears to have had 6 or more owners so far in its history, with insurance cards indicating owners in Laguna Hills California, Edmond Oklahoma, and eventually the car was purchased at the Barret Jackson Auction in 2015 and imported to Canada. A very large stack of paperwork comes with the car allowing proof of the 95,000 miles on the car. We know that it’s been NCRS judged and has won the Topflight Car in 1987 in Monterrey and in Cypress in 1991. It was a part of the Palm Springs Concours Riverside California in 1987 and scored a 99.75 It won the Bloomington Gold Survivor certificate of Historic Preservation in 1994. All awards are included with the car. It was featured in a Consumer guide magazine as well as others, and the magazines come with the car. Even the very first license plate it wore, comes with this amazing Corvette! To make a good thing even better, this is a well-equipped car. It was ordered with power steering, power windows, rear window defroster blower, Air conditioning, power brakes, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, white letter tires, custom wheel covers, AM/FM push button stereo radio and California emissions. T-tops were included and the 255 hp (net) LT-1 V8 backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. The LT-1 featured a high-performance solid lifter valvetrain, forged internals, an aggressive camshaft, aluminum intake and Holley 4-bbl carb. 1972 was the first year A/C was offered with the engine and a lower redline and 3.36 gears were installed to protect the A/C compressor. Hp ratings seem low because ’72 was also the first year that hp was counted Net (measured with water pump, alternator emissions equipment etc), versus the previous method of measuring gross hp (an engine without any accessories). ’72 is considered the final year of the classic small block era before tighter emission rules took over, drastically reducing engine performance in the years to come. The condition of the car is absolutely fantastic, especially considering it has nearly 100,000 miles. The factory original paint is free from typical cracks found on fiberglass cars but does show a few very minor rock chips along the front of the car. Despite that, it’s very bright and glossy. Chrome and bright trim are in great shape. The vacuum operated pop-up headlights work like they should, along with the vacuum lifting cowl when the wipers are activated. Rare original wheel covers are still on the car, and it appears to be wearing the same white letter tires that it was photographed in back in the 1980’s. All options are in working order apart from a recharge needed on the A/C system. Even the clock is still ticking! The all-original factory interior is in remarkable condition with no rips or tears in the upholstery, no cracks on the dash, no broken interior pieces and only minor fading on the factory original carpets. Considering the age and miles, the wear and tear on the car has been incredibly mitigated by all the owners throughout the years. The factory T-top roof bags are also in the storage area behind the seatbacks. It would be more than difficult to find such a special car, with such a high level of equipment, in such excellent original factory condition, with such incredible documentation anywhere in North America. Serious collectors should take a good hard look at this one!
