Description

1969 Buick Electra 225 4-dr Hardtop. Well cared for and hard to find land yacht with lots of options and lots of style! The car started life in the US and was imported to Canada more than 30 years ago, but exact details are unfortunately lost to history. It spent its Canadian years in Alberta near Red Deer, then was auctioned in Okotoks in 2016 and was at that point brought to Saskatchewan where it’s had the same owner since then. Some pictures provided from previous owners indicate that 1 repaint occurred some time around 2001. The vinyl top is original as is a large part of the interior. Chrome is in fair shape with a few minor dents and dings in the bumpers, but the bright work is nice, and overall, it’s better than just driver quality paint with no chips or rust. The car has been shown many times in the Draggins Car show and Majestic’s Car show and placed well. Awards come with the car. The seats were recovered in correct reproduction gold striped fabric, but the vinyl parts of the seats are factory. All door panels dash, headliner and other plastic parts are factory original. New carpets were installed in the correct dark gold just last summer. It’s very comfortable and relaxing to float down the highway in! The car features a long list of options, features and accessories including six-way power bench seat with headrests, rubber carpet saver floor mats, rear-view mirror map light, four season A/C with heavy duty cooling that still blows ice cold! There’s also a tilt steering column, speed alert warning on the speedometer, remote controlled outside side mirror, signal activated cornering lamps, green soft ray tinted glass, radial white wall tires, vacuum remote trunk release, Sonomatic AM radio with rear power antenna, rear seat speaker and body side moldings. Recently a restored, full working, date correct 8-track player was sourced along with the correct harness and installed. A new in the box Buick branded tissue dispenser with vintage Kleenex box hangs from the dash as well. Interestingly the car was factory equipped with manual windows and manual locks. License plate frame, visor vanity mirror, block heater and rear passenger seat mounted cigarette lighters are all dealer installed accessories included with the car. Also included are two sizes of dealership brochures, a vintage magazine ad, the owners manual, warranty card, accessories guide and trailer towing guide for the car, collected by the last owner. A 2x3 display board for car shows is also included. A large number of spare parts and pieces, car cover, spare FM radio, two spare hub caps and weather tech rubber floor mats come with the car too. A Classic Console in matching gold vinyl has been added to the front powered bench seat to offer an arm rest and cup holders. It simply straps down to the seat. Original GM keys and plenty of reproduction GM spare keys come along too. The trunk was recently coated with POR-15 and all new cardboard trunk boards were installed along with a carpet mat. The factory jack was restored along with the tire iron, and they’re stowed in the correct place in the trunk. Powered by a 430 high compression big block Buick V8 making 375 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque, despite 2:78 rear end gears, this thing really moves for its size. The numbers matching 4-bbl Quadra-jet was recently rebuilt and the car runs great. The choke works perfectly and kicks off as needed. There’s a K&N filter in the air cleaner. Plugs, wires, cap and rotor are all new along with Pertronix ignition. There are new vacuum lines on the engine, a new fuel pump, and lines and new valve cover gaskets. Dual exhaust with Flow master Delta 40’s was professionally installed at Competition Muffler in Saskatoon. A new water pump, new fan clutch, new thermostat fresh coolant and electric pusher fan have been installed to keep things cool. Front upper and lower control arm bushings, reaction rod bushings, front shocks, stabilizer bar links and bushings as well as steering center link and pitman arm are all new with a fresh wheel alignment. New rear shocks and springs were installed and the rest of the suspension bushings checked out. The rear differential was serviced recently when the pinion seal and wheel seals were replaced, new gear oil went in. The drive shaft features 2 new u-joints. The TH-400 transmission has a new vacuum modulator, mechanical regulator and a recent service with fresh fluid, filter and gasket. The power steering system received new fluid and new hoses. The brake master cylinder was replaced, along with all four wheel-cylinders and new shoes on each corner, with new brake fluid. 5 new white wall tires were installed in the summer of 2025 and are nice and smooth (includes spare). The car features powered 4-wheel drum brakes, but being a Buick, the fronts are oversized finned aluminum units often featured on hot rods of the 60’s and 70’s and stop the car very effectively with no brake fade. Regular high zinc oil changes for the last 10 years of ownership and the car runs on premium fuel due to the high compression engine. Mechanically, the car is ready for the road and could be easily driven distances anywhere you’d like. Apart from the clock, absolutely everything on the car is in working usable condition including the air conditioning! Overall condition is very good. Hard to find car that’s been cherished and loved and is looking for it’s next home!
