2013 Mercedes Benz SL550 Retractable Hardtop Convertible. Beautiful black metallic paint, with a black leather interior with dark grey wood accents. Luxury meets performance with a twin turbo-charged 4.7-liter V8 making 429 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque paired to a 7-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. The car would still be considered heavy at 4000 lbs despite the aluminum body and chassis, but with a powered folding top and all the options a heavy curb weight is to be expected. A bit of extra weight doesn’t stop the car from rocketing to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. This one is in good condition with nice paint, 5-spoke silver aluminum wheels and a striking silhouette. The car looks good both top up and top down. The roof also features a transparent glass section. A powered wind guard can also be extended to keep highway cruising quieter with the top down. No shortage of luxury items and options on this one. Both front seats are leather wrapped,12-way power adjustable, and both feature 3-person memory. They are both heated and cooled and feature massage functions. A small air vent in each below the headrest that blows warm air onto they’re occupants when selected for driving in cool weather with the top down! Carpets and upholstery are in excellent condition. The steering wheel is power tilt and telescopic and features a real wood rim. Gauges, dashboard and switchgear are all beautiful. For the year, the infotainment system was considered new technology but now feels a little antiquated. Nonetheless, the Harmon Kardon sound system is absolutely mind-blowingly good. Even with the top down the sound fidelity is flawless at any volume. Dual zone automatic climate control works as it should and also feeds a fresh air supply into the glove box. There’s push button start, transmission driving modes (eco, manual, sport) as well the optional fully automatic hydraulic suspension system which features drive modes and automatic ride height lowering at high speeds. The suspension can also be manually raised for curbs and obstacles. The powered roof is fully automatic and stows the metal roof and windows quite nicely. The rear trunk lid is power opening and closing and still has a fairly generous amount of room for items even with the top down. Adaptive cruise control was also optioned on this car – which was groundbreaking for the era. The car is very clean and neat inside and out. It’s a blast to drive and would serve as just about the ultimate grand touring car to take through the mountains or down the coast of California. With just 104,000 kms, milage is also fairly low for the year. Certainly one of the neatest cars we’ve had. Tint has also just been added to the windows to black out the car.
