2011 Cadillac CTS-V Black Diamond Edition. One very special caddy produced in ultra-low numbers. Cadillac has never officially provided numbers, but online research suggests that only 179 CTS-V coupes were sent to Canada in 2011. A small handful of those would have come with the Black Diamond Edition, so likely this is one of 20 or so cars in the country 15 years ago. How many are left now and in this condition? Not many. It’s certain this is a very rare car indeed. The CTS-V starts with a Corvette sourced supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 and 6-speed automatic transmission making 556 hp and 551 lb-ft of torque in a relatively small wedge-shaped coupe that rockets to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. The $4800 Black diamond package brings a special Tri-coat paint meant to mimic the sparkle of diamonds. It involves embedding aluminum flakes encapsulated in magnesium fluoride in a process GM calls SpectraFlair Bright Silver Pigment, as part of the tri-coat paint process. The result is stunning with a finish that appears black in the shade, but in the sunlight, shines so brilliantly it’s almost hard to put into words. The pictures reveal some of the brilliance, but in person, it’s absolutely stunning. The Black Diamond Edition also brings in 19” satin graphite wheels with Brembo yellow brake calipers, midnight sapele wood interior accents, 14-way power adjustable heated and cooled Recaro performance seats wrapped in leather and microfiber suede, along with magnetic ride control with touring and sports modes. This is of course all on top of a very well-loaded car to begin with!  Other equipment includes power tilt and telescopic wheel, power sunroof, suede covered steering wheel and shift knob, adaptive front headlights and headlight washers, fog lamps, staggered 19” wheels, limited slip rear differential, rear view camera and rear parking sensors, touchscreen infotainment system with AM/FM/CD/DVD/Satellite radio, and onboard hard drive.  The sound system is designed by Bose and features a rear subwoofer, DTS and Dolby Digital surround – sound quality is excellent and rich. The touch screen also rises out of the dashboard when in use. Dual zone automatic climate control is nice, with heated and cooled front seats. An electric parking brake and auto dimming rear view mirror are also included. All said and done this car retailed for $82,000 (cad) 15 years ago! Just like a corvette, front doors are released with an electric button rather than a handle. The dual exhaust with a central exit out the back looks and sounds great. The entire owner’s manual package in a leather case is also included with the car. Fit and finish are excellent, and the trunk is done up as nice as the interior, completely carpeted. A weather tech mat is included along with a car cover. Not much to see under the hood thanks to plastic covers, but the car is very clean and in excellent condition. It should be with only 21,000 kms on it since new! The car was purchased in Edmonton and has been owned by just one family ever since. Exterior paint is flawless and the only damage to note is a small scuff on the lower front valance splitter – which is on a black textured plastic piece that could be replaced easily. The Xenon projector beam headlights are clear as the day the car was new – a sure sign it has been stored inside out of the sunlight for the last 15 years. Currently the car is Saskatchewan plated.
