1996 Jeep Cherokee Limited. Remarkable survivor with a handsome look! Still wearing it’s factory white paint and matching grey fender flares and running boards, this Jeep is in very good condition for its age. It’s a rust-free car, with only a few minor paint flaws, that are still to be fixed while it’s here at Rod’s. A recent lift kit has been installed, but it’s not too tall, and new American Racing wheels with Mickey Thompson Baja Legend raised white letter tires really stand out well! Being a Limited trim, this Jeep has what appears to be every available option including dual leather powered bucket seats, power windows, power door locks, Air conditioning (blows cold), Tilt steering wheel with leather wrap (needs repair), and cruise control! There’s full gauges and 215,000 miles on the odometer, which is astonishing considering how nice the truck is. A Kenwood CD player is in place of the stock Chrysler radio. The Limited also received simulated woodgrain throughout the interior. The door panels, headliner and carpets and leather seats are in remarkably good condition. Just some minor wear on the side of the driver’s seat, not on the leather surface, but on the vinyl side of the lower bolster. Even the trunk space and rear carpets are in excellent condition. It doesn’t look like this Jeep has ever done any hard work! Powered by the “Tough as nails” 4.0-liter inline 6-cylinder with fuel injection, the engine, originally designed by AMC when Jeep belonged under that corporate umbrella, is well known for its low-end torque and power as well as being very reliable. It’s backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission, 4X4 transfer case with 2-high, 4-high, and 4-low, connected to solid front and rear axles. The catalytic converters have been removed on the rig, triggering a check engine light, but the only codes when scanned are the 02 sensor codes. Everything else is in nice working order! Very neat and tidy (although cramped) under the hood. With almost a cult-like following for older Jeeps, it’s neat to find one in such good condition! Ready for the road or save it for a summer cruiser.
