1978 Dodge D-150 Adventurer Li’l Red Express Truck. Excellent restoration completed 9-10 years ago with the correct exhaust stacks, wood lined step side box and optioned with the very rare matching red interior. Of the 21,888 Li’l Red’s made in ’78 only 400 were equipped with a red interior and of those, some were bench like this one, and others had buckets and a console. Every aspect of the restoration on this truck is very nice; with clear evidence it was a frame-off job. The frame is nicely painted black now along with all the suspension components. The body and box are glossy red, top to bottom. The correct gold decals and pinstripes have been reinstalled, and the box wood looks all new, with high gloss golden varnish finish. Chrome is all very good, and the front grill appears to be original, still in very good condition. US Mag Chromed slotted alloy wheels are in place of the originals and with raised white letter Cooper Cobra tires, the look suits the truck perfectly. The paint and body are 99% flawless with only one small paint chip on the lower front driver’s fender that will be professionally fixed before the truck leaves Rod’s. The interior is rare as hell, and in excellent condition. It’s clear there’s new carpets and vinyl upholstery on the seats, but the door panels and dash appear to be original and in very good condition. The only modifications from stock include a Sun Pro tach added, additional chrome gauges below the dash, and the original radio has been upgraded internally now to accommodate Blue tooth and usb connections, although it still appears completely stock. 1978 was the first year for metric in Canada, and this one shows 80,000 kms, although it’s only got 5-digits, and true milage can’t be proven100%. That said, it’s very likely not to have rolled over based on condition. Included in the glove box is the original owner’s manual along with other pamphlets and the warranty card confirming the truck sold new May 30^th, 1978 to Laurence Laffoley of Prescott Ontario at Seaway Motors! Under the hood is the 360 Li’l Express V8 with an aftermarket Edelbrock 4-bbl Carb. Behind that is a 3-speed 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission. The powertrain was also rebuilt 9-10 years ago. Power steering and power brakes with front discs too! Under the hood, it’s highly detailed and very nice. The only exception from factory is the radiator. A modern aluminum rad with plastic tanks has been installed in place of the original – an easy fix for someone who wanted to return it to stock. The dual exhaust still exits just like it should through nice, chromed stacks right behind the cab! Very cool truck with an killer look that’s getting hard to find these days, especially so nice and original like this one!
